The assessment
Kahootz is a UK secure online collaboration platform operated by Kahootz Limited of Wallingford, Oxfordshire, incorporated in 2001. It sells a service called Kahootz for Secure Deal Rooms and Collaborative Procurement on the G-Cloud 14 framework.
On the criteria a UK buyer can check independently, it is the strongest performer on this list. Data storage and processing are declared as United Kingdom on a government framework. It holds ISO 27001, accredited by Socotec, plus both Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. And its pricing is published in sterling at £2.50 to £12.50 per user per month, which is more transparent than anything else assessed.
The caveat is what it is. Kahootz is a collaboration platform with deal room capability, not a purpose-built transaction data room. We found no Q&A workflow, no redaction and no deal lifecycle tooling, which is why it is listed separately rather than ranked against Datasite. Per-user pricing also inverts badly on a competitive process where dozens of bidder-side users need access.
For a UK public sector body that needs a UK-hosted, Cyber Essentials Plus certified, directly awardable collaboration space, this is close to ideal and the pricing is refreshingly honest. Do not buy it as an M&A data room. If you are running a competitive sale with a Q&A process, redaction requirements and a large bidder population, the missing deal tooling and the per-user pricing will both work against you.
